Q. IS THIS A PBEM?
No. This is a narrative of the second edition Star Wars RolePlaying game put out by West End Games.
Q. WHEN AND WHERE DID YOU DO ALL THIS GAMING?
They all took place in the second semester of 1993 at the University of New England, New South Wales, Australia. A reunion adventure (adv 11) took place at graduation in '94.
Q. HOW ACCURATE ARE THE STORIES TO THE GAMING?
Apart from occasional very minor details, EXACTLY the same. All parts of the adventures were checked with the players to make sure that I hadn't forgotten anything. Obviously the players can't remember exactly what they said in every situation, but we tried. Another feature that is in the stories but not the games is what the characters are thinking (though these are checked with the players).
Q. WHERE WERE THE CHARACTERS' STARTING EQUIPMENT?
(eg Menarggrah's bowcaster, Stoge's X-Wing).
The players of Straun, Surge, Menarggrah, Dar and Karlos were all veteran AD&D players. I decided to control their "gimme the treasure" mentality by depriving them from these items at first and giving them later as a reward.
As it turned out some didn't want them! (eg Karlos refused a heavy blaster in favour of his eight-gun because "it's what the character would do",which I thought was commendable).
There was actually a mixup when I ordered the game (I got the GM's handbook instead) and I didn't get the RULES to the game until we had started adventure 6, but by then I knew all the rules anyway thanks to other GMs on the net. We were all that keen that we played without knowing a couple of minor rules (for example we thought that you could use medpacks multiple times). So I didn't know some of the starting equipment. Stoge's player was NOT impressed when he found out he was supposed to get an X-Wing, but at the end of adventure 6 he calmed down J
Q. WHAT MODULES DID YOU USE?
None- all the stories, creatures, planets, equipment etc came out of my head during long walks to lectures. I've designed from scratch every adventure except 4 (Perodeen) and 8, and those I adapted significantly. Perodeen was the idea of another GM, and adventure 8 (no spoilers) I adapted from an adventure hook in the book that comes with the GM's screen.
(Adv 1-6)
Agostian farmers use these instruments both to harvest grain grasses and to control their Eguale by giving an electric shock powerful enough to penetrate their tough hides. Shaped like a polearm, the prod features a long handle housing a power pack, which ends in two curved, parallel grass-cutting blades. At the end of each blade is a small round electrode.
Skill: Melee weapons; Eguale prod
Difficulty: 5
Damage: Str+1D, shock delivers 4D stun.
(Adv 1-10)
In game terms, this weapon is a normal firearm. In adv 6, Karlos acquired some explosive bullets that do 5D damage.
(Adv 1-10)
Eguale riders use these to produce electric shocks powerful enough for the mantis beasts to feel. Though inappropriate for combat, if the situation permits they will inflict 3D stun.
(Adv 1,3)
This is an elegant blaster whose bolt is thinner and more accurate over long ranges
Skill: Blaster; Needlebeamer pistol
Ranges: 3-25/50/250
Damage: 3D
Ammo: 120
Cost: 750
(Adv 3-10)
This weapon was relatively uncommon during the heyday of the Old Republic (Force Lashes were used by some Jedi padawan learners). In the days of Star Wars movies IV-VI, it is extremely rare. The force lash looks much the same as a lightsaber handle, perhaps slightly longer and thinner. When the button is pressed, metal telescopes out from the handle like a car aerial for about 80cm and is encompassed in a glowing cylinder of energy. The metal (and hence the energy around it) has some flexibility, though not enough to wrap around something. The result is basically a less powerful lightsaber.
Skill: Lightsaber
Difficulty: 15
Damage: 4D + Special
(Adv 6)
Although this droid featured only briefly in Adv 6, it is the one I most frequently get asked about (and yes, I did rip off the idea from Robocop).
Used in the later days of the Republic, these walking hulks are obsolete by the standards of the Empire and Rebellion, but still pack a punch. Similar to an AT-PT in appearance (though more rounded), they are quite stupid and have been known to open fire at the wrong time.

A recent innovation, this is a fusion radiator that can be placed in planetary orbit to provide light to sunless planets or night-light for any number of commercial production or military applications. A typical Sunsatt will provide light for one standard month, though some of the better ones can provide both light and heat for almost a year.
The Sunsatt can also be turned on/off via transmitter.
(Adv 6-10)
This starfighter is one of the early successors of the popular Z-95 Headhunter. Designed in the twilight days of the Old Republic, only a few were built and fewer actually saw action before the extermination of the Jedi and the rise of the Empire. The Z-98 is somewhat similar to the Z-95 but has three small additional wings (one dorsal, two more under the main wings) for enhanced atmospheric performance, two more triple blasters mounted in the nose, and an improved engine thrust rating. The S-Foil wings fold up to the dorsal wing when landing.

Quickdraw (Perception Skill used by Karlos)
This skill is only suitable for a gun-based character- the Outlaw, Bounty Hunter or Smuggler. In the first round of an encounter the quickdraw roll is made and counted as that characters initiative roll. It can only be used that round, and the normal 1D penalty to hit for weapon drawing still applies.

Agost is a remote world in an uninteresting outer sector. Its surface is flat with little tectonic movement, and almost completely covered in grasses- many species ranging from knee-high to sugarcane height. Most of the moisture on the surface is subsoil, though a few small lakes exist.
Much of the population is located on farms, though there are two capital cities: Stoessel and Mol Danta. It is here that the worlds only spaceports are located and carefully monitored by the Empire.
(ee-gwa-lay)- Native to Agost, these are horse-sized insectoids resembling a praying mantis. They have six limbs; four used for mobility and two "arms". One of these is larger and sickle-like (used for cutting grass), the other scoops food toward its mouth with pincers.
Eguale have a hard, crustacean shell. They have many uses ranging from transport to beasts of burden to food. Eguale farmers use eguale prods- six-fool shock prods with grass cutting blades. These instruments have been mistaken for force pikes.
These are squat grubs three meters in length and one meter in diameter. They burrow into the ground and during their life span secrete a mucous substance behind them, that over the years grows to a tall tower similar in consistency to a tree trunk. Some towers have been known to exceed five meters in height.
These lizard
men appear quite threatening (imagine a chameleon crossed with
Gigers alien), but come from a proud and noble race. A
strip of skin underneath their throat changes colour depending
upon their mood, and they prolong each "s" in
converssation.
I created this race for the Agostian campaign back in '93, and
when I started the Splinter Sith campaign in '99, one of the
players picked up the race and expanded it for their character,
Hara-Kalor.
